The mini-series “Merlin” and its sequel

I just watched the sequel to the mini-series Merlin, starring Sam Neill.  It is called Merlin’s Apprentice, and it is…unworthy of its predecessor.  First of all, there are many discrepancies in the plot, like Merlin dying in the sequel, which took place before some of the events in the first mini-series.  Sam Neill portrays the enchanter Merlin very well, but aside from him, the acting in the sequel is very poor.  Merlin was remarkable, and its outtake on the King Arthur legend was very commendable.  But the sequel was a failure.  I give Merlin 4 out of 5 stars, but I give Merlin’s Apprentice 2 out of 5 stars.
