A sarcastic twist from James Thurber

There is a classic poem that everyone knows by heart:

Early to bed,

Early to rise,

Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.

It was originally written by Benjamin Franklin.  James Thurber, an American writer, twisted this poem into the following:

Early to rise,

Early to bed,

Makes a man healthy, wealthy, and dead.

It is not a very complimentary edition, but it is true nonetheless. 😉  I will publish my second article in the series about E.B. White’s novels today on the Examiner…that will make it my 36th article!
